Classic precision platformer. Good job buddy.

Developer(+1)

Thanks dude, playing your game tommorrow or this afternoon !

`The controls feel good. my only complaying is that the dash button wastes a dash doing nothing if you dont press a directional button

Developer

can’t fix that, thanks I made the controls feel similar to Celeste, so glad you like it!

Submitted

Cute game. Is there only 1 level or I am so bad that can't reach that block?

Developer

there’s 4, 5 including the tutorial.

Submitted

then it is I am being bad )

Developer

it’s a difficult game so don’t put yourself down!

Submitted

I accidentally left my comment on the actual game page lol my bad. But anyway:

First of all I would kill and die for this duck.

Asides from that my only feedback would be that the dash on the down key feels a little unintuitive, maybe use something like shift instead?

Then again, controls are massively subjective things, so I could be wrong!

Developer(+1)

he wants to win the squid game, can you join it for the duck? I’ll add shift in the input menu as well as down, but for now I can’t update, thanks for your feedback!

Great platformer. The controls feel great and I can easily land on tiny platforms and go through tiny gaps. But I wish it had some checkpoints so I don't have to go back to the starting point every time I die. And I think the trail following the player flickers in the top left corner when you die? Not sure why. But still, very great job!

Developer

the trail node is set to follow the player but it’s not immediate so it’s more so something we just ignore in these parts, I don’t know how to make checkpoints as this is my second ever game but hopefully my next game will have shorter levels so no need for checkpoints, thanks for playing!

Very cute little duck )

Dash was challenging for me - always plummeting me down into an abyss. Need more practice

Developer

all in the timing! thanks for playing!

This was a really fun platformer. I like the dash mechanic and the duck character is very cute. I like the challenge of the game, but some checkpoints would have been really nice for how punishing it is with all the single tile jumps you need to get the duck into. Overall really enjoyed this tho!

Developer

yeah, the one by one is an often problem, I’ll fix it after the vote, thanks for your comment!

Great platformer! Cool soundtrack, and the mechanics aligned with the Jam Task really well!
DUCK

Developer(+1)

i appreciate it!

That's the duck game :) The skill curve was a bit steep. I wish there was a closer checkpoint in level three near the one block gap. I fell there quite often and had to redo the level. Otherwise nice jump and run mechanics, and I think you also implemented coyote time.

Developer

thank you, yeah it does get quite difficult

Submitted

duck mentioned 10/10 ( coyote jump/time is so nice)

Developer

thanks!

what the duck

Submitted

Hey ducky! The jump and double jump feels great and the impact screen shake adds some pretty cool juice. I found the key binding for the dash to the down arrow a little confusing, but that’s easy to change; the issue I had is that I do not know why I’d use the dash given that it’s not too long and I could probably reach most areas with the double jump instead of the dash; that’s something that may require some careful level design to create interesting puzzles. Great job overall.

Developer

lvl 2 is where the dash is more needed

Great rage platformer. A lot of fun.

Developer(+1)

Sure does make you rage lo

Submitted(+1)

This is Ducking Good! Well done! I love the weight of the duck :P

Developer

Did you just call him fat?!? Lol

Submitted

No I said I LOVED the weight >:(

Developer

:)

Submitted(+1)

This game is just hardcore Celeste. No but seriously, I enjoyed platforming a lot! Good art, effects and music. Controls were also well done, even though my bad dashes frequently killed me I always felt like it was fair.

Developer

Yeah, you do your dash a few tiles off, you flyyyy off the edge haha

Submitted(+1)

This was fun. :) Good Job!

Submitted

loved the game. the controls are cool too.

Developer(+1)

thanks! ill be starting playing for an hour now, so ill test yours now!

Firstly, I love the duck. Also the controls feel really nice, and I especially love the effect when you land after a double jump, although it almost makes me wish the normal jump and dash also had a bit of juice. There were a few issues I had with the movement though. Firstly, fitting into one block gaps felt terrible there are a lot of them. Also, I think that the levels needed checkpoints. The music also looped over again with every death and together those made a rather grating experience. I also think the levels could have just been much shorter, as I would rather play 9 short levels than 3 long levels ten times out of ten. Since it's a game jam, not everybody will be willing to put the time and effort to be difficult or annoying games so I would highly recommend making them way easier than you may think they need to be. Also the jump pads don't allow you to double jump again and it feels like they should. I know I gave a lot of criticism but I did have a fun time, and if Rubber Ducky is coming back later I'd love to see some of this feedback taken into account. Great job & good luck!

Developer

thanks for the advice, I don’t mind the criticism it’s creative criticism it’ll be helpful in future games, yeah the collision for the duck I was having a hard time with so the one by ones were hard to do, I noticed they were a bit buggy, I can’t make music so I had to use one I found online, and the levels, the reason they are so long is because I don’t rlly know the difference between a long or short lvl, like short lvls always feel too short but I’ll try to figure out good sizes for lvls next time, anyway thanks for your tips and good luck!
